My 10 Favourite Book Characters On Screen

A few days ago I was tagged in a blog hop by Lisa Hope. Lisa’s post was about her ten favourite screen characters. Unfortunately I watch more tv and movies than I should and as a result of this, I have too many favourite characters. Therefore it is a nigh on impossible task to whittle them down to ten. So I thought I’d tweak it a bit and narrow down the scope to my ten favourite book characters to be brought to life on the screen. This is probably the toughest thing I’ve ever had to do, and there are so many characters I would love to have included – and I’m sure there will be many others to hit the screen in the future which will somehow wheedle their way into the top ten. I’d be interested to know people’s thoughts on my list, and to hear what people would have in their own top ten! So please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Now who shall I tag? I think I’m supposed to tag ten people, but I have another taggy post to do as well so I’ll just do five for this one. So here are the blogs I tag for my blog hop – check ’em out!

Julianne at Outlandish Lit
Matt at Wanton Creation (because I know you don’t have enough top ten stuff to do at the moment!!)
Kaitlin at
Brett at
Aimee at AimeeMeesterWrites

Now, here’s my gallery of characters, counting down from ten to one! Click on through to see who I love and why.

    • Oh my gosh don’t stress!!!! Take your time – or don’t even do it. Save it for a rainy day when you have nothing else to post about 🙂

    • You totally should Sammy! Also, I’ve tagged you in a post that I’m publishing on Saturday – make sure you keep an eye out for it 😁

  3. Really interesting picks. I have no idea who I’m going to pick for this one. By ten favourite screen characters that means any characters from television or film doesn’t it?

    • Yep. Or you can make it whatever you want. The original post I was tagged in was just what your top ten favourite screen characters were in general – that was too hard for me as I love everyone! So I picked adapted characters. But just because I have less things to pick from didn’t make it any easier. The only one I was certain on was no.1, the rest were super hard.

  5. Oh, this looks like fun! I admit that I don’t really consume that much media, so this may be easier (or harder, not sure which) for me. A lot of books I like have not yet made it to the screen. But this is going to give me lots to think about over the next few days. I’ll have the post up soon. Thanks for the tag!

Hi Heather, thanks for the tag! Some good choices here – who doesn’t love Hermione? Emma Watson’s portrayal was pretty spot-on for me; and I agree with Cucumberpatches’ version of Sherlock Holmes – though I’d have to give my edge to Robert Downey Jr’s version, for simple bad-assery in the fight scenes.
Thanks again, my post’ll be up over the weekend!

    • I agree – RDJ is a much tougher Sherlock physically. I really like Jonny Lee Miller’s portrayal as well – it’s tough to choose between three of them! I think I went with Cumberbatch in the end though purely because when I read Sherlock Holmes, that’s basically who I imagine.
