Teaser Tuesday – ‘The Miniaturist’

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! All you have to do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page and share two sentences from that page. But make sure you don’t share any spoilers!

The MiniaturistThis week’s two sentence teaser comes from a book I’ve been beyond excited to read since I got it into my hot little hands. The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton is, aesthetically speaking, glorious. I’ll save my gushing over it for my review when I get to it in a couple of weeks, but I will say that my edition of it is extra super special and I love looking at it.

I’ve not read much yet, but I’m enjoying it so far. The writing is lovely and I can’t wait to see how the story develops – from the little I’ve read, I’m expecting nothing less than amazing from the rest of the book. And now for the sentences:

“She listens, desolate, a hairline crack of moonlight glinting over painted hare and rotten pomegranate. It is a deceptive quiet, as if the house itself is breathing.”

What are you reading at the moment? Feel free to share some sentences in the comments section, or link to your own Teaser Tuesday post!

    • Thanks so much! The rest of the book – specifically the outside of it – is even more beautiful. It’s probably one of the nicest looking books I’ve read. The inside is good too!
