Teaser Tuesday – ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! All you have to do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page and share two sentences from that page. But make sure you don’t share any spoilers!

PrisonerofAzkabanIt’s pouring with rain today and I didn’t want to lug my iPad around in the rain to read my current e-Book, so I decided to grab a paperback that I could slip in all cosy in my little handbag. I thought I’d continue with my ‘Harry Potter’ reread and so I started number three in the series this morning, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I’ve always loved this one a little more than some of the others, mostly because my favourite character, Sirius Black, makes his first appearance (I love him so much I even bought a replica of his wand at the Platform 9¾ shop in London). Plus we get to visit Hogsmeade for the first time, and how great is Professor Lupin, you guys? Anyway, here are the teaser sentences:

“Harry got through the next three days by forcing himself to think about his Handbook of Do-it-Yourself Broomcare whenever Aunt Marge started on him. This worked quite well, though it seemed to give him a glazed look, because Aunt Marge started voicing the opinion that he was mentally subnormal.”

What are you reading this week?

  1. This is precisely the sort of thing I love about Rowling. Making up a book called “DIY Broomcare” and then using it to show instead of tell how frustrated Harry is. ❤

    • I was reading on the train this morning and got to the part when Hagrid is announced as a teacher – I got happy tears in my eyes. It’s just the best.

  2. Sometimes Felix seemed like an empty house, but he wasn’t really. It was just that he kept all his possessions in a locked room. And when, once every few years, the door cracked open for a moment, she felt strangely moved to see herself within.” Recognize it?
