About Me

Proof that weird little book nerds with a cow lick can grow up to be reasonably normal looking adult book nerds.

This is from my “Village of the Damned” phase. Fakest. Smile. Ever. But it’s proof that weird little book nerds with a cow lick can grow up to be reasonably normal looking adult book nerds.

My name is Heather and I really like to read. I’m not overly fussy about what I read – generally whatever I can get my hands on will do. I’m also a big fan of food and eating, specifically baked goods like cupcakes and biscuits. Basically anything sugary and sweet.

At the moment I work full time in office administration, but I’m also doing a B.A. in Professional Writing and Publishing at university via correspondence. I’m still deciding exactly what I want to do with my degree when I’m finished, but I’m hoping that I will have an epiphany soon. Right now I’m just happy to be learning new things and keeping my brain working!

My blog is mostly me reviewing books (although I use the word “review” very loosely) and occasionally there will be some food on here. Lucky most of the food I like to make goes well with a nice cup of tea or coffee, which is the ideal accompaniment for reading!

Happy reading!

    No worries 🙂
Thanks for following back. I’m pretty new at this and can use any help or input you can suggest.

    • I am terrible for advice! I will say though that if you feel like blogging is becoming a chore, take a little break – blogging should be fun! It’s happened to me a few times and I’ve just stepped away from the computer and let my blog sit for a few months. Then I get back into it with all the enthusiasm of before.

Also, if you haven’t already you should really check out NetGalley for free books to review (there’s a badge link in my sidebar). I’ve only discovered in the last few months, and I wish I’d known about it years ago. You can get lots of books to read and prior to their publication. If you sign up though, don’t do what I did and request absolutely everything you like the look of – you’ll be forever trying to get through them all!

Thanks, yes, I’m on NetGalley and went a little crazy. Have 6 more books to review, but I love it. Can’t figure out how to get the badge on my pages though. Do you remember which widget you used to add it?

        • I used the ‘Text’ widget, which lets you add in html. If you copy and paste the html for the badge from the ‘Show Your Pride’ link on your Dashboard, it should display.

        • They’ve actually only just provided the html for the badges in the last few days, so you’re very lucky! Before, I had to save the badge image in Photobucket, then get the html from there and add it to the text widget, but I had to change it too so that it pointed to NetGalley and not to Photobucket. So annoying. It’s much easier now that they give the html!
